Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the United States has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
