Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
