The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed game that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing chaos and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting gripping, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two producers whose projects have embodied all of those things.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game property, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' structure by introducing a new backdrop and group of personalities in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant belief and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology show. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the nature of people through this intricate and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
